Graydon James & The Young Novelists

Toronto-based roots band Graydon James & the Young Novelists formed in 2009 to tour front man Graydon James’ 40 track double-album release and have been carving out their place on the Canadian roots/rock scene ever since. They have seen support from CBC Radio (their song "It Takes All Kinds" was featured on Definitely Not the Opera and they've had a featured single on CBC Radio 3), won a 2010 Galaxie Rising Star Award, and will be heading into the studio this winter to record a full-length album thanks to the support of a FACTOR independent recording loan.
The band’s first recording as a collective is a 4 track EP called 'a small town eulogy' which was released this spring and is already garnering the attending of the media. "For fans of Blue Rodeo, The Band, and pre-weirdness Wilco, here are three last words: Step right up." (John Sakomoto, Toronto Star, The Anti-Hit List, March 26, 2011)
"James and his Novelists are straddling a line that's exactly between the Two-Minute Miracles and Attack In Black. When they go at their folk-rock fiercely, they'll blow your mind. When they approach it cautiously, they're a perfect fit for back-porch relaxation. They're clearly able to write catchy songs from both positions."
~ Scott Bryson, CHARTAttack from CMW2011 Report Card - Grade: 4/5
Graydon James & the Young Novelists need no gimmicks for cred. Attesting to talent that's real and only just begun, A Small Town Eulogy is a work of unpretentious brilliance.
